Migraine triggers may converge in the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that regulates the release of many hormones, sleep, and appetite. Migraine-associated symptoms such as nausea and vomiting can result from signals sent from the hypothalamus to the nervous system involved in migraine onset.

 

The hypothalamus sends signals to the upper brainstem, where the trigeminal nervous system is located. This system is a large neural network with branches that extend widely across the brain. When this system is activated, the migraine process begins.

 

Head pain occurs when blood vessels in the outer covering of the brain (meninges) dilate, and nearby nerves transmit pain signals. When the nerves are stimulated, they release substances that activate pain receptors and further increase vessel dilation.

 

According to the International Headache Society (1988), migraine headache criteria include headache lasting 4–72 hours (if untreated or not relieved by sleep), nausea and/or vomiting, and sensitivity to bright light or loud sound. The pain typically has at least two of the following characteristics:

• Throbbing or pulsating pain
• One-sided pain (often around the temple or the back of the head)
• Moderate to severe pain that interferes with daily activities
• Routine physical activity (e.g., walking or head movement) worsens the migraine

• Suitable for individuals aged 15 and above (can be used from age 8 and above with necessary training to understand this manual, and under adult supervision)

• If headache frequency does not decrease after extended use, consult a physician
• Do not drop the device, as it may cause damage
• Do not disassemble the device while it is still powered on, as electric shock may occur
