VOLDYNE 5000 Volumetric Exerciser

The Volumetric Exerciser (air volume control) help the patient to practice breathing slowly and deeply after surgery or chest injuries.
• Collapse of the lung (Lung Atelectasis) both before and after surgery.
• Respiratory complications in patients with chest injuries.
Conditions that cause of abnormal lung function such as paralysis or malfunction of the diaphragm.

While inhaling, the patient will inhale the air through the tube, with close the mouth tightly around tube then Inhale through the mouth must be sucked slowly and deeply by having a yellow plastic sphere float up that will show air flows.

When the yellow plastic sphere float up to desired level. Notice the white plastic sphere that located at the base of the device. Must inhale until it move up to the set level.

When reaching the set level. Let the patient inhale for 5 to 10 seconds, then exhale by leaving out mouthpiece from mouth immediately. You will notice that the moving sphere will gradually move back to its original position. Then, rest for a moment and repeat again, you will see that this device can be shown the volume of inhaled air.

Step 1
Remove the device from the packaging and attach the end of the pipe to the device, as shown in Step 2.
Place the device in a vertical position, move the air volume pointer to the desired volume. Step 3
Exhale normally, then cover the tip of the tube used for sucking air in with your lips. Step 4.
Slowly suck in the air, so that the white piston in the chamber moves up. At the same time, the yellow plastic block in the chamber on the left side moves up and remains at the position marked “BEST”. Keep sucking in the air until the white piston is close to the set volume. When you have sucked in the air completely, open your mouth to release the suction, and exhale normally, allowing the white piston to move down to the starting position. Then hold for a moment and start again for the set volume depending on your gender and age.

Volumetric Exerciser is designed like as a sigh or yawning. Objective for practice patient breathe in slowly, deeply as long as possible by using the device that show how much of air volume inhale and how much is breathing enough. The patient should practice breath in slowly and deeply before using device and then allow the patient use the device and hold their breath for at least 3 seconds.

Indications
1. There is a condition that is likely to cause a collapsed lung.
2. There is a collapsed lung.
3. Have a condition that causes the lungs to not function properly, such as paralysis or abnormal diaphragm function . Contraindications
1. The patient is not in a condition where they can understand, cooperate, or practice using the equipment.
2. Patients who are unable to take a deep breath.
3. Patients with a tracheostomy are not contraindicated but must be appropriately adjusted.

Possible complications or dangers
1. Not suitable for treatment in cases with large lung collapse or concomitant pneumonia.
2. Hyperventilation may occur.
3. Abnormal pressure in the lungs may occur, which may cause the air sacs to rupture (barotrauma).
4. May cause more pain in the surgical wound area if the pain relief medication is insufficient.
5. In cases where the patient uses an oxygen mask to help with breathing, oxygen deficiency may occur when using such equipment because the oxygen mask must be temporarily removed while using the breathing device.
6. It may induce bronchospasm.
7. Makes the body feel tired.
